That state of supremely blissful union with Thee, which is difficult to obtain through (disciplines like) charity, (ritual) sacrifices, observance of vows, self-control, austerities, knowledge (sAnkhya), and yoga, was attained by the blessed gopikas of Brindavan, through just personal attachment to Thee as their own beloved. Numerous are Thy other devotees, but it is this loving personal devotion of the gopikas that has received Thy highest appreciation. Therefore Oh Krishna, Oh Lord of Guruvayoor, May Thou strengthen devotion in me and destroy my ailments.

Earth

"0 earth, what austerities did you perform to attain the touch of Sri Hari's feet  Is it because
  1. Lord Trivikrama stepped on you or because and
  2. Lord Varaha hugged you
that the blades of grass that are the hairs of your body stand now erect with bliss.

"Because you are known as
  1. 'Prthvi' (the expansive one) and
  2. 'Ksama' (the all tolerant one), and
because the touch of Sri Krsna's feet fills you with bliss, we approach you to ask for news of Krsna."

Billion

Among

  1. billion of gopis and queens, 16,000 are prominent.
  2. Out of these, 108 are important,
  3. and out of 108, eight are principal.
  4. Out of eight gopis, Radha and Chandravali are chief,
  5. and out of these two Radha is superior.
Night

It was a perfect night for the purpose – flowers bloomed in Vrindavana, full moon shone, and gentle, cool breeze blew from the banks of river Yamuna. Shri Krishna supernaturally stretches the length of that night to the one Night of Brahma, approximately 4.32 billion years, comprising of all Seasons (Shad Ritu) to satisfy all desires of Gopis.

Yoga

General
  1. Yoga - Meeting with Krishna
  2. Viyoga - Separation form Krishna
Specific

Raasa-Leela is the combination of Gyan Yoga (knowledge), Karma Yoga (Work) and Bhakti Yoga (prayers).

  1. In Raasa-Leela, Gopis praise various Divine Activities of Shri Krishna by singing song for Him, enhancing the glimpses of His Divinity. ~ This is Gyan Yoga.
  2. Next while dancing with Shri Krishna, Gopis made effort to co-ordinate the movement of their body to the tune of the music played by Lord’s flute & Ghandharvas. ~ That’s Effort is Karma Yoga.
  3. While dancing and singing, Gopis come in harmony with Shri Krishna. Gopis singing in praise of Lord Hari, and their dancing is attributed to Lord Shri Krishna only. ~ That’s Bhakti Yoga.

Groups

The gopi friends of Shri Radha are divided into five groups that always attract Lord Madhava with their superexcellent transcendental qualities and beautiful personal embellishments.

1) Sakhis-are ordinary female friends like Vrnda, Dhanishta and Kusumika.
2) Nitya-sakhis-eternal friends like Manimanjari and Kasturi.
3) Prana-sakhis--intimate bosom friends "as dear as life" like Sashi, Mukhi, Vasanti and Lasika.
4) Priya-sakhis dear friends like Kamala, Madhavi and Malati.
5) Parama-prestha-sakhis are the foremost, dearest and most beloved friends of Shri Radha represented by the asta-sakhis (eight main gopis): Lalita, Visakha, Citra, Campakalata, Tungavidya, Indulckha, Rangadevi and Sudevi. The asta-sakhis display the zenith of spiritual love for the Divine Couple, Shri-Shri Radhika-Krishnacandra. To increase the transcendental ecstasy of Radha and Krishna, the parama-prestha sakhis show partiality; sometimes they favor Krishna, sometimes Radha. "These eight gopis are the leaders of all the other gopis. In whatever time, place, or circumstance, these gopis are placed, their most exalted and intense love for the transcendental Divine Couple is always very easy to sec" (UN). Although these eight gopis are the leaders of many other gopis, because they are very greedy to earn Shri Radha's love ; they always prefer to serve under the group and command of Shri Radha and try to please Her in every way possible.

Besides these five categories, there are hundreds of groups of beautiful doe-eyed gopis with hundreds and thousands of charming girls in each group. There are actually unlimited groups with 100,000 gopis in each group. Some of the gopi group leaders act as Shrimati Radharani's friends, some are neutral and some like Candravalli, Padma and Saibya are Radha's rivals.

Chitrakuta to Remuna

Srimati Sita devi worshiped this Gopala Deity carved by Her husband Ramacandra until the time she was kidnapped by Ravana.

http://ear8.blogspot.com/search/label/Remuna

Lord Brahma then continued the seva-puja for the seven hundred year balance of Treta-yuga. In the thirteenth century King Langula Nrsimhadeva from Orissa was traveling to holy places with his queen and many great sages. At Citrakuta they saw the Deity of Gopala.

http://ramayanainfo.blogspot.com/search/label/Chitrakoot

Not knowing that Lord Brahma was coming there daily, the king was astonished that no one was worshiping such a beautiful Deity.

That night the Deity appeared to the king in a dream and asked to be taken to a more populated place. The king decided to take Gopala to Jagannatha Puri.

The king selected some qualified brahmanas to worship the Deity and started for Jagannatha Puri. But when they reached Remuna, a beautiful cowherd village, Gopala again appeared to the king in a dream

“I want to stay here because this lovely picturesque place,

  1. with all its milk laden cows and
  2. joyous cowherd men,
reminds Me of the pleasure land of Vrindavana (Ramana Reti).” [The word Remuna comes from the word ramana, which means pleasing, charming or love’s delights.] The village people, delighted, gave the Deity large quantities of

  1. milk and
  2. milk products every day.

King Langula Narasimha Dev then built a magnificent temple for Gopala in Remuna and instituted daily worship. Seeing all the sakhis engraved on the Deity, the queen gave the Deity a new name - Sri Gopinatha, "Lord of the gopis.".

6) O Gopinath, You are able to do anything, and therefore You have the power to deliver all sinners. Who is there that is more of a sinner than myself?

7) O Gopinath, You are the ocean of mercy. Having come into this phenomenal world, You expand Your divine pastimes for the sake of the fallen souls.

8) O Gopinath, I am so sinful that although all the demons attained Your lotus feet, Bhaktivinoda has remained in worldly existence.

Ten rasas favorable to conjugal love, rasas that are:
  1. astonishment,
  2. dread,
  3. anger,
  4. ghastliness,
  5. respect for elders or superiors,
  6. compassion,
  7. chivalry,
  8. laughter,
  9. neutrality, and
  10. conjugal love one after the other.

http://wikikrishna.com/index.php?title=Conclusion_of_the_Five-Chapter_Description_of_the_Rasa-Dance

In secluded place with each gopi
  1. Wandering in the forest, Krsna and gopis saw in the full moon's light many wonderful varieties ofbirds, beasts, vines, and trees, some They had known before and some They had never known before. In this way They tasted the rasa of astonishment.
  2. Sometimes They entered forest groves filled with wild bees gathering pollen from hosts of flowers. The gopis became afraid. Krsna calmed them with sweet words. In this way the gopis experienced the rasa of dread.
  3. When sometimes a bold black bee stung a gopi and brought to her difficultto-remove tears, Krsna, His ewyes now become like red lotus flowers almost touching His shark-shaped earrings, violently punished that bee, striking him with a formidable long-stemmed pastime-lotus-flower. In this way Krsna enjoyed the rasa of anger.
  4. Sometimes a gopi, her splendid face filled with charming playfulness, saw a lotus-flower growing from the dry ground and (unaware that some species of lotus grow not in ponds but on dry land) became filled with shock and horror. In this way that gopi experienced the rasa of ghastliness.
  5. Sometimes, learning the arts of sweet warbling from a group of parrots, a gopi, now them her teachers and herself their student, would sing very sweetly. In this way she experienced the rasa of being respectful to elders or superiors.
  6. Sometimes, seeing that in the course of Their agitated pastimes they had crushed some graceful buds on a flowering vine, Krsna and ther gopis shed a few tears from Their eyes. In this way They experienced the rasa of compassion.
  7. Sometimes, to break into pieces the great festival of their pride, Krsna engaged the graceful banana-tree-thighed gopis in pastimes of amorous battle. In this way He a they enjoyed the rasa of chivalry.
  8.  Sometimes, seeing Their shadows move here and there in exaggerated ways as They enjoyed amorous pastimes, Krsna and the gopis would laugh greatly. In this way They enjoyed the rasa of laughter.
  9. Sometimes, exhausted after enjoying many pastimes, Krsna and the gopis, feeling Their hearts renounce the happiness They formerly felt by touching each other, now happily closed Their eyes in sleep. In this way They experienced the rasa of neutrality.
  10.  Sometimes, even though already exhausted by enjoying many wild amorous pastimes, Krsna and the gopis continued to enjoy again and again, staying awake the whole night, awake and always plunged in the ocean of passionate amorous pastimes. In this way Krsna and His gopi-beloveds enjoyed pastimes of conjugal love.

Chitra Sakhi's Dream

Radha is being bathed in the morning. All the sakhis and manjaris are around her, doing their different sevas. Someone is oiling her hair. Others are massaging different creams into her skin, some are putting perfumes in the water or preparing the clothes and ornaments that she will wear afterward.

Lalita comes to where Radha is sitting on a velvet covered bench and tells her that Chitra has had a very strange dream. "Wait till you hear it, it will really make you laugh!" And she starts to recount it to Radharani.

In the dream Chitra has suddenly found herself in a beautiful garden somewhere by the Yamuna, but she does not know where or how she got there. She is completely alone and is looking for Shyamasundar. But who can she ask? There is no one there.

She starts to go a little mad and starts asking the elements to help her find him. One by one, she asks the air, the ether, water, earth and fire to help, since they are all-pervading and will know where Krishna is. She asks the air, but there is no answer. No one answers.

After going through all the elements, she begins to  feel hopeless and abandoned because she still hasn't seen her Shyamsundar. But then she suddenly sees five effulgent devatas standing by the river ghat.

She asks them who they are and they tell her they are the respective gods of the elements. They say that they have heard her call and come to her for her darshan.

So Chitra says, "Never mind all that, just tell me where is Shyamasundar?"

And they say, "We don't know. We do not have the power to see him."

Chitra: "Well that is a fine help!"

"Ordinarily, we cannot even see you gopis, but since you have called us, we are here. If you give us the dust of your feet, we will smear it on our eyes and then maybe we can find him for you."

"How is that? I can't find him myself and somehow my dust is going to help you find him? Doesn't make sense."

She is confused and backs away, so they come and take the dust anyway and smear it over their eyes. Then they roll in the dust, so that Chitra thinks they are completely crazy. and a few minutes later they come back and say, "He is just now coming." Then they disappear.

And suddenly Shyamasundar appears with a big smile on his face. Chitra says, "Where on earth have you been? What's the deal, leaving me all alone here by my lonesome?"

Krishna answers, "I was at the temple of Tripura Sundari, doing puja."

"What did you go there for?"

It takes some cajoling, but finally Krishna starts to tell her.

“Yesterday, I was watching as you all dressed Radha and I began to think. Radha's body is so soft and delicate that even the weight of the flower garland must bruise it. The sharp corners of her sari must scratch her and irritate her where she is so tender. The jewels are also heavy and unpleasant, what to speak of all the unguents and mascara that must be such an annoyance. One by one, all these concerns began to trouble me.

“I know she does all this for me, just to give me pleasure, but it is not really necessary. In fact, these clothes and makeup and jewelry are only fulfilling their own existence by being placed on her body. She does not really need them to make herself more beautiful for me.

“If I were to tell her to stop putting all this stuff on, I know she will do it just because I ask. But then, if she starts going around naked, people will really think she has gone completely crazy! They will lock her away inside the house and then she will really be in trouble. She will go sick from separation and die very soon.
Tripura Sundari

“I fell into a quandary, wondering what can I do? I could not sleep all night, so this morning I went to Devi's temple and began to pray.

“Tripura Sundari kindly appeared to me and said, ‘What is the trouble Shyam?’

“So I asked her, ‘Bhagavati, what is the softest thing in the world?’

“And Bhagavati said, smiling, ‘Why Shyam, there is nothing softer or more delicate in the entire universe than you and Radha!’”

So Krishna started thinking, “Aha! If I could just enter into all the things that Radha puts on, if I become her mascara, if I become her blouse, her sari, the alta on her feet, then all those things will become soft and more bearable for her, and they will cease to cause her any suffering.”

So Krishna said to Tripura Sundari, "You told me that I was the softest thing, so now you have to give me the power to enter all the hard things so there is no disturbance for Radha."

Seven Oceans

  1. Accepting the Lord's invincible semen, passionate and fortunate Viraja at once became pregnant.
  2. After a hundred celestial years of pregnancy, she gave birth to seven handsome sons from the Lord.
  3. In this way the Lord's eternal beloved became the mother of seven sons. She was very happy with her seven sons.
  4. One day, her heart filled with amorous desires, the saintly girl again enjoyed pastimes with Lord Hari in a secluded place in Vrndavana forest.
  5. Then, frightened by his brothers, her youngest son came there and went to his mother's lap.
  6. Seeing her son was afraid, she who was an ocean of kindness left Lord Hari and placed the boy on her lap. Then Krishna went to Radha's home.
  7. When she had comforted the boy she noticed that her beloved was no longer there. Her heart filled with unsatisfied desires, she lamented greatly.
  8. She angrily cursed her son: "You will become an ocean of salt-water. The living entities will never drink your water."
  9. Then she cursed all the boys: "Those fools will go to the earth! Fools, go to beautiful Jambudvipa on the earth!
  10. "They will not stay together in one place, but will stay each in his own place. They will stay happily around different islands.
  11. "They may enjoy pastimes with the rivers on these islands."
In this way, because of his mother's curse, the youngest boy became an ocean of salt-water.
  12. The youngest then told the other boys about their mother's curse. Unhappy, all the boys went to their mother.
  13. After hearing their mother's words, they offered obeisances to her feet. Then, their necks bowed with devotion, they all went to the surface of the earth.
  14. O sage, they became seven oceans around the seven islands. From the youngest to the eldest, each ocean was twice as large as the preceding one.
  15. They became
    1. oceans of salt-water,
    2. sugarcane juice,
    3. wine,
    4. clarified butter,
    5. yoghurt,
    6. milk and
    7. sweet water. Their liquid will be used to cultivate grains on the earth.
  16. In this way they became seven oceans around the seven islands of the earth. Unhappy in separation from their mother and brothers, all the boys wept.
  17. Tormented by separation from her sons, chaste Viraja wept again and again. She fainted out of grief she felt for her sons and husband.
  18. Understanding that she was drowning in an ocean of grief, Radha's master, His lotus face smiling, came to her again.
  19. When she saw Lord Hari she stopped weeping and lamenting. Gazing at her beloved, she became plunged in an ocean of bliss.
  20. Overcome with passion, she placed Lord Hari on her lap and enjoyed pastimes with Him. In this way, even though she had abandoned her sons, Lord Hari became pleased with her.
  21. His eyes and face filled with happiness, He gave her a benediction: "Beloved, I will always come to you.
  22. Like Radha you will be dear to Me. By the power of My blessing you will always protect your sons.

The earth is balanced on the hood of Sheshnag. Lord Vishnu is the nurturer of this world. There are seven more worlds beneath the earth, which are

  1. Atala(Earth),
  2. Vitala,
  3. Sutala,
  4. Rasatala,
  5. Tala,
  6. Talatala and
  7. Patal. Each of these worlds is ten thousand yojans in length and twenty thousand yojans deep.
All these worlds are full of invaluable and priceless diamonds. The residents of each of these worlds enjoy all the luxuries and pleasures of life. The demons and the Nagas reside in these worlds. Source
