Then the gopis asked questions of the earth, saying, 

"0 earth, what austerities did you perform to attain the touch of Sri Hari's feet  Is it because 

1. Lord Trivikrama stepped on you or because and 
2. Lord Varaha hugged you 

that the blades of grass that are the hairs of your body stand now erect with bliss. 

"Because you are known as 

1. 'Prthvi' (the expansive one) and 
2. 'Ksama' (the all tolerant one), and 

because the touch of Sri Krsna's feet fills you with bliss, we approach you to ask for news of Krsna."
